Kaua'i mole duck

For the last two months I participated in the reconstruction project of Kaua’I mole duck (Talpanas lippa), the extinct Hawaiian nocturnal duck with Dr. Helen James. After the publication of cranial study in 2009, she and her research group will update postcranial study of this creature and discuss the possible postures and locomotions. Wait for her presentation at North American Ornithological Conference 2016 and a publication, soon!

Here, I greatly use my background of physical anthropology where I studied the origin of bipedal locomotion from fossil evidences. Forgot that both humans and birds are bipedal species… Anthropology to ornithology is not a big leap ;)
