Pine Cones

Walked around the neighborhood just for an hour and collected five different kinds of pine cones. I did not know that so many pine cone trees are around my house. My favorite is Douglas fir (upper left in the first photo), species native to western North America. This cone has pretty ribbons.

What is more interesting for pine cones is that those cones often follow Fibonacci sequences. It is amazing that there are many rules in the natural world.
